Brevibacillus parabrevis (kindly provided by Mohamed Marahiel, Department of Biochemistry, Philipps-University Marburg), Photorhabdus luminescens laumondii TT01 (Leibniz-Institute-DSMZ; DSM-15139), Delftia acidovorans SPH-1 (Leibniz-Institute-DSMZ; DSM-39) and Escherichia coli BAP1 (kindly provided by Blaine Pfeifer, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, University of Buffalo) were used as PCR templates for extraction of coding sequences (cds) of PPTases and/or NRPS T domains and grown on LB agar plates at 30°C.

Molecular weight determination of plasmid DNA using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry.
Ionization and molecular weight (MW) determination of megadalton size plasmid DNA has been achieved using electrospray ionization (ESI) with Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR) mass spectrometry. DNA molecules were shown to remain intact through electrospray ionization by collection on a specially prepared surface, followed by agarose gel electrophoresis. Individual highly charged...
متن کاملMolecular Simulation-Based Structural Prediction of Protein Complexes in Mass Spectrometry: The Human Insulin Dimer
Protein electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry (MS)-based techniques are widely used to provide insight into structural proteomics under the assumption that non-covalent protein complexes being transferred into the gas phase preserve basically the same intermolecular interactions as in solution. Here we investigate the applicability of this assumption by extending our previous structur...

متن کاملMass spectrometric investigation of the DNA-binding properties of an anthracycline with two trisaccharide chains.
Cosmomycin D (CosD) is an anthracycline that has two trisaccharide chains linked to its ring system. Gel electrophoresis showed that CosD formed stable complexes with plasmid DNA under conditions where daunorubicin (Dn) and doxorubicin (Dx) dissociated to some extent during the experiments. The footprint and stability of CosD complexed with 10- and 16 mer DNA was investigated using several appl...
متن کاملA hexanuclear gold carbonyl cluster† †Dedicated to Prof. Dr Pablo Espinet on the occasion of his 65th birthday. Abbreviations are defined prior to the Acknowledgements section. As defined in ref. 1, “clusters are molecular units which may contain small or large numbers of similar atoms where there are several short internuclear distances between atom pairs.” This definition is fully compatible with that originally given by F. A. Cotton (ref. 2). ‡ ‡Electronic supplementary information (ESI) available: Experimental procedures, comments on the X-ray structure determinations and 3D Hirschfeld surfaces for the ions constituting the crystal of 4.
